When the holidays are approaching, these jello shots will add some pizzazz to your holiday party. Their vivid colors are a fabulous addition to any holiday table and guests love them.
You can spike them with vodka or your favorite liquor, but they’re also great as mocktail shots when you want something family-friendly. The best part? You can make them up to 2 days ahead of time and store in the fridge until serving time.
How to Make Christmas Jello Shots
For these jello shots, you’ll need to buy 3 types of jello:
- Strawberry jello (or raspberry or cherry) for the red layers
- Lime jello for the green layers
- Unflavored gelatin powder for the white layer
The process for making them is simple, although requires some repetition. You’ll need to make red jello with boiling water and cold water in a mixing bowl. Then repeat in a second bowl for the green jello. Finally, combine the unflavored gelatin with sweetened condensed milk and boiling water in a third bowl to make the white layer.
In order to get clean layers, you’ll want to let the liquids cool but not set before pouring into the pan. A 6×9 inch pyrex storage container will work, or alternatively a 7-inch square pan.
Pour about 3/4 cup into the pan to form a layer and then chill for 15 minutes to set. Repeat in alternating colors to make the remaining layers, chilling each time to set.
When you’ve formed all the layers, use a sharp knife to cut into squares. Then use a small, flexible spatula to pop each jello shot out of the pan and onto a serving platter.
