Cake Inside Orange

Ingredients

  • 15 ounce box white cake mix
  • Ingredients called for in cake mix e.g. water, oil, eggs
  • 6 large oranges
  • 4-6 ounce tube white decorating icing
  • small tube round colored sprinkles optional

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 350F degrees. Set aside a large baking sheet or pan.
  • Slice off top quarter of oranges. Using a large spoon, remove insides of oranges + tops to a bowl and set aside.
  • In a medium bowl, prepare cake batter according to instructions on the box.
  • Spoon or pipe batter into hollow oranges until 2/3 full. Then wrap each orange in aluminum foil and place top-up in pan. Bake for 25 min.
  • Remove from oven and unwrap aluminum foil. Then allow cakes to cool for 5-10 min. Using a sharp knife, slice under tops and set aside.
  • Pipe icing on top of oranges and put on some sprinkles. Strain orange insides into juice to serve alongside if desired. Enjoy!

Notes

Variation: Switch to a chocolate cake mix for an orange and black Halloween dessert.
